Throughout my years in business, I have only come across a few individuals who had been born with the ability to be excellent sales people. Many of these people do not even work in sales positions, but given the opportunity, they would be able to sell ice to an Eskimo.
In reality, we are all sales people. We have all come across a product or service that we found so fantastic that we had to tell our friends about it. So what do we do? We go on and on about the benefits of the product or service until our friends buy it for themselves. Teenagers are some of the best unpaid sales people in the world. When a teenager sees the latest iPhone or Xbox games, they go to their parents and convince them to buy it. If you have a teenager, I am pretty sure you are familiar with the term “but it is so awesome and everyone has one”. That term, however, would not work in a working environment.
If you are a business owner, you know that your sales team needs professional training. They need to understand objections and know how to handle it. If a prospective client or customer happens speak in an offensive tone when speaking to a member of your sales staff, would he or she burst out crying? Would he or she retaliate with more aggression? Or would they be able to get the prospect to calm down while they continue their call? These are a few of the many questions that you need to ask yourself when evaluating your sales team.
At SalesPartners Cape Town, we have provided many companies with professional sales and business training. Click here if you want the kind of professional sales training that could get your sales team selling bikinis to Eskimos in the dead of winter.
